Sunday night the S.O. and I went to a benefit at the Fairmont in San Jose. We checked beforehand and arranged to have vegan dinners. The S.O. signed up for vegan too, I guess in solidarity...isn't he cute?
So, the kitchen clearly got it...salads with no cheese, a lovely dinner entree. but the waiters clearly didn't. they were ready to spoon creamy dressings on our salads and put butter on our bread plates.
Training, people, let's do some!
But I am not one to get on my high horse, considering I had a non-vegan slip. Back when my book club cleared out last week, they left behind some non-vegan food for the S.O. Turns out he didn't like the flourless chocolate cake. Turns out, as it sat there for several days, that I finally snagged a bite...back in the day those kind of cakes or brownies were my absolute favorite...the dryer, darker kind, you know?
After taking my non-vegan bites, I picked the whole thing up and threw it in the trash. if he hadn't eaten any by Sunday, he wasn't going to, right? Meanwhile, we all know I am weak!
But, back on the positive side, there was a silent auction at the benefit, and I convinced my friend to bid for a trip to Africa and told her I'd go with her if she won. And she did. So. Wow.
