Really, the post will link you to a Slate column that goes into great detail about Sunstein's supposed crimes of making logical philosophical arguments for treating animals ethically and humanely. Oh, the horror!
I'm a vegan, and like most vegans, it's about a philosophical belief more than it is about health or the environment. I like to point out the health and environmental benefits because I think they'll be meaningful to people and may help sway some people. But for me, it's really a philosophical and ethical choice.
Well, despite leading with some of the negativity about vegan cuisine demonstrated by the Top Chef Masters chefs when faced with a vegan challenge, this article in the San Jose Mercury is mostly a very positive piece, featuring local vegan and cookbook author Colleen Patrick-Goudreau.
You may be used to scanning ingredients looking for whey, casein, gelatin and other common animal ingredients, but the Carrie Klaus has a list of other common hidden animal ingredients with less easily recognizable names. Myristic Acid was a completely new one on me!
I may already be a vegan, but I decided to sign up to get motivating emails from the PCRM as part of their 21-day Vegan Kickstart.
