Infamous dog-fighting NFL player Michael Vick will be getting out of prison in January after less than 2 years in prison for the fighting, torture and murder of pit bulls on his property.
Check out this clip from the Humane Society of Silicon Valley, featuring Apple co-founder (and occasional attendee of a weekly geek dinner I attend) Steve Wozniak:
Check out this post on Treehugger re: mock meat products. The author pushes some buttons by wondering how people who have sworn off meat could ever be attracted to foods that emulate meat. Be sure to check out the comments too. Talk about cranky people on both side of the Veg*n border.
At least according to "protein scientist" Nancy Rodriguez, interviewed by Dr. Val at Better Health.
Perhaps a bit late in the game, but Stephanie from the Change.org Animal Rights blog inspired me to provide a few vegan shopping resources, after she published her own handy dandy list. Please read the comments on her post too, as there is some controversy over Alternative Outfitters and whether they use sweatshops. Luckily, Change.org has a slew of blogs, including one about fair trader, so later Stephanie is able to point us to a great fair trade resource for vegan shoes.
Hat tip to Vegan Soapbox for highlighting the stats from a newly published survey not only on how many veg*ns there are, but how many non-veg*ns are considering it or order veg*n when out in restaurants.
Veggie Chic has some very basic info on where to get your protein and iron as a veg*n. That's nice. What I like even better is that they remind us all that, actually, we don't need nearly as much protein in our diets as people seem to think.
I loved reading this post by Vegan Cowgirl: A Vegan in Budapest.
Interesting and brief item on Vegan.com where in "restaurant turn-around artist" (what is that, anyway?) Erik Blauberg states that it is becoming increasingly important for restaurants to offer vegan dishes, as part of the need to offer diverse dishes to satisfy a diversity of customers.
