Yesterday my BlogHer events manager and I were scoping out a potential site for next year's annual conference. As part of our site survey, and knowing I was a vegan, they created an entire vegan breakfast feast for me and Kristy that was absolutely incredible:
Basket of vegan breakfast muffins with cranberry jam and soy "butter" (They sent me home with a bag of these adorable little muffins, after I said they reminded me of my grandmother.)
Banana-Berry Smoothie made with Soy
Toasted Quinoa & Winter Fruit Medley with fresh Soy Yoghurt on the side
Mushroom and Wild Rice Hash with Smoked Tomato Sauce and Cilantro Chimichurri
Buckwheat Crepes with Peaches and Soy "Cream"
Everything was made from scratch, and they had us sit at a counter in the kitchen as they presented everything. There was also coffee (with soy milk of course) and a really interesting Japanese tea that smelled (and tasted a bit) like smoke.
They also made a Flax Seed Goji Berry Granola Bar, but it had honey, so that was the one vegan snafu.
All in all, they went completely out of their way to create an amazing meal, and while we certainly won't be doing vegan catering for the conference itself, they certainly proved they can accommodate special needs and requests!
All I say is wow! And thanks...mystery venue :)
