Recap Day Thirty
Sound the fanfare: 30 days as a vegan have come and gone.
Mostly easier than I expected. Sometimes harder than expected.
And with no discernible results that others expected. I lost no more than a couple of pounds. I don't feel physically different at all. And not so much mentally either.
I did finally start taking a daily vitamin. Per my partner Lisa's suggestion I started taking the Trader Joe's women's formula.
As I knew it would be last night was a challenge. There would have been ample food at the wedding for a non-veg. There would have been plenty of noshing to be done, albeit cheese-heavy, for a vegetarian. But there was a mere nibbling to be had by me. This was also hampered by the fact that I don't like a couple of the vegetables that seem to be absolutely de rigeur when it comes to laying out a platter for the greenies among us. I don't like raosted peppers. And I really really don't like eggplant. I'm not even a huge fan of yellow squash and zucchini. And therein I just descirbed the entire roasted vegetable platter, save some mushrooms. (I noticed the mushrooms were the only vegetables that were gone when I went back for seconds, so I think I'm not the only one with such taste in vegetables.
Oh, and you might as well prepare yourself now: if you dcide to be a vegan you will almost never have any dessert options when you leave the house. I made up for it yesterday by chowing down on some vegan treats that the S.O. brought home form work on Friday. Seems they had a little charitable bake sale/auction at his place of employ, and one of his co-workers is a vegan who baked some items for it. The S.O. kindly bid on and won the vegan offerings to bring hme to me...isn't that sweet?

Someone asked in my comments what happens to this blog now that I've done the 30 days.
Well, first of all, I'm going to stick with being the best vegan I can be. And I'm going to stick with publicly journaling my food diary because it helps me be conscious of what I'm eating and keeps me honest.
Considering that the food journaling alone is the kind of self-indulgent minutiaie that will keep this blog knwon to but a few, loyal readers, I may just use this for another self-indulgent jounral: namely my wedding plans.
So, I don't know. Perhaps this will become:
Veggie Goes Vegan Getting Married
What do you think?
(No, you don't really have to answer that.)
