Day 152: Something's rotten in the state of fake pork?
Last night I was off to a monthly networking dinner I attend at Ming's restaurant in Palo Alto. I look forward to going because Ming's has an entire menue section for veg*ns, including traditional Chinese dishes made with gluten meat substitutes. I order the Sweet & Sour "Pork" every time. But remember when I was sick last month and complaining that food smelled/tasted weird to me? Well, something tasted funny in the Sweet & Sour "Pork" last night. Not funy as in "ha ha", but funny as in bad. I managed to coerce two of my dining companions into tasting a piece, and neither thought there was anything amiss. But it just did not taste right to me, so I stopped eating it. Luckily we had had some appetizers and I had a wonderful shitake mushroom salad, so I certainly was perfectly satisfied. But what I really hope is that there isn't something screwy going on with me...some physical reason that food would smell or taste funny. because that would suck!!!
on the plus side I went hiking for the first time in ages yesterday. So I got that going for me...which is nice.
